Yijun Liao (Pixy)
Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Yijun Liao is an artist currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
She is a recipient of En Foco's New Works Photography Fellowship Awards and was a selected winner of Flash Forward Award (Magenta, Canada) in 2011, Photography Now 2009 (Center of Photography at Woodstock), and Hey, Hot Shot (Jen Bekman Gallery) in 2008, and more. She was also a Honorable Mentionee of New York Photo Awards 2009 at New York Photo Festival and a finalist of ITS Photo Award (Trieste, Italy).
Liao is currently doing a studio residency at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and will have a darkroom residency at Camera Club of New York in 2013. She has done artist residency at Woodstock AIR program in 2010.
Liao’s photographs have been exhibited internationally, including NordArt (Büdelsdorf, Germany), kunst licht Gallery (Shanghai, China), Arario Gallery (New York, NY), VT Artsalon (Taipei, Taiwan), China Pingyao International Photography Fest (Shanxi Province, China), China Lianzhou International Photography Fest (Guangdong Province, China), and more.
Liao holds a MFA in photography from University of Memphis.
